Why I need your help saving the pangolin and climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro!

So as many of you read last week, I'm climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in July- the tallest freestanding mountain in the world - to not only raise awareness, but much-needed funding, to save the endangered pangolin. [Please click here to donate to conservation efforts]

You're probably asking - why the pangolin? Well, not only is it the spirit animal of my beloved employer (Pangolin, for Golin - get it?), but the pangolin is the single most trafficked animal on earth. All eight species of pangolin are on the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) list of animals threatened with extinction.

It's a really unique-looking animal found across Africa and Asia - but that has caused certain cultures to hunt the pangolin for its apparent "healing" qualities in Eastern medicine. According to The Guardian newspaper, more than 100,000 pangolins are captured every year so their meat and keratin scales can be sold in China and Vietnam.

Losing an entire species of animal may not seem like a big deal to you, but the pangolin, like all animals, keeps its ecosystem in balance. It's vital that we all help try to keep this creature thriving in the wild.

I really need each of you reading this to help contribute to the "Save the Pangolins" fundraiser. I need to raise at least $1000 in the next two months before my climb - but I can't do it alone. If you donate, whether it be $5, $25 or $50 - it will make a difference!

Here are some important things to know:

  • 100% of your donation will go to the Wildlife Conservation Network (WCN) to save Pangolins.
  • WCN is ranked as the top wildlife conservation organization on Charity Navigator.
  • I am personally paying all expenses related to this climb - I will not be hitting you up later to pay a portion of my trip.
  • Your donation is tax-deductible in the U.S.

  • Please consider donating to save the pangolins today! You can make a donation here. As mentioned above, any size of donation is very much appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your generosity!
